2024 Metro North Protective Equipment Application

The West Australian Football Commission understands that due to the nature of Australian Football, parents and players may want to take certain safety measures to ensure they are protected while participating in training and matches. In doing this, the WAFC must ensure that any protective equipment is suitable for football and that the safety of all participants is considered.
Please note standard (velcro strapped) helmets purchased from sporting goods stores no longer require approval.

Please note the following Protective Equipment conditions:

1.Photos of the actual equipment are required to be submitted on this form for assessment. Stock photos from websites will not be accepted.
2. All eyewear must have plastic frames and lenses. They must also be held on securely by a band;
3. All braces and supports must be constructed of soft & scrunchable materials, braces or supports containing metal or hard plastic will not be approved;
4.All Protective Equipment must be fitted closely to the players body using straps or similar. Equipment should not gape or flail;
5.All Protective Equipment must be approved by a WAFC staff member prior to use within fixtured games. Umpires are not permitted to provide approvals on game day in lieu of an application to the WAFC.

Please note that any applications to wear protective equipment must be submitted prior to 8am Thursday morning in order to be processed for the weekend fixture. Applications submitted after this time may not be processed until the following week. Unapproved equipment is not permitted to be worn.
